This charter shall serve as the official rules for YiffNet servers and operators. It shall specify requirements for connection of clients and servers to the network, as well as actions to be taken in the event those rules are broken. * Part 2 - YiffNet Servers * A. The following are requirements for servers connected to YiffNet: 1. A 24-hour continous connection to the Internet, excepting ordinary downtime and network problems, of at least 56 kilobits per second. 2. At least one server Operator, responsible for the maintenance of the server and its connection to YiffNet and compliance with YiffNet policies. 3. Operator ability to perform (2.), including setup and configuration of a standard ircd. 4. Dedication of the server to be used full-time by furries, open to connections on ports 6667 and 7000 (optionally additional ports, at the Operator's desire) by all users excepting those who have been individually K-lined (i.e. no banning entire countries, domains, etc., unless required to ban a single user due to lack of ident service.) 5. Server Operators have the right to K-line users from their server, as long as the server remains generally open. A server's purpose is to help YiffNet, not to provide a private vanity link. 6. Server Operators may not link additional servers or networks into YiffNet without following the procedure in this Charter. B. The following are requirements for linking an additional server to YiffNet: 1. The server must be set up in accordance with the requirements in part (A). 2. The proposed Operator must agree to comply with this Charter. 3. The proposed Operator must notify a YiffNet Operator of his/her request to be linked, who shall communicate this to the other YiffNet Operators, at which time a vote shall be taken. 4. Each YiffNet Operator gets one vote. 5. The new server will be accepted if 2/3 of YiffNet operators vote Yes. 6. In the event of a successful vote, connection details will be determined by the other operators in accordance with established YiffNet topology. C. A server may be removed from YiffNet: 1. Temporarily or permanently, at the request of the server Operator. 2. Permanently, by a unanimous vote of the other YiffNet Operators. 3. Temporarily, in the event of severe network problems or server adversely affecting YiffNet, and inability to contact server Operator. The reason for and period of removal shall be publically available and not exceed one week, or the request of the Operator of the removed server. * Part 3 - YiffNet Clients * 1. The primary purpose of YiffNet shall be for the use of furries. Others are allowed to use the servers, but should be reminded of YiffNet's purpose as well as the location of more general-purpose networks, should their activities be disruptive to furries. 2. YiffNet channels are governed by the policies set forth by their founders. * Part 4 - Ratification and Changes * 1. This Charter shall go into effect when ratified by a unanimous vote of the YiffNet Operators at the time of its proposal. 2. Changes to this Charter may be proposed by a YiffNet Operator and shall be considered in effect when ratified by a 2/3 vote of the YiffNet Operators at the time of proposal. * History * Revision 1, 04-May-1996.
